It's possible to use metadata from photos to set the date and location for your entries. This is particularly handy when you want to just snap photos on vacation, then write about the moment later.

Setting Date/Time

To change an entry's date and time to match the date and time a photo was taken, follow these steps:

  1. Create an entry.
  2. Add a photo.
  3. Tap the date at the top of the entry.
  4. Tap "Set to Photo Date/Time."
  5. The date and time will be changed to match the photo. In addition to this change, the weather will be automatically updated to match the weather on the date and time of the photo.

Setting Location

To change an entry's date and time to match the date and time a photo was taken, follow these steps:

  1. Create an entry.
  2. Add a photo.
  3. Day One should ask if you want to set the location of the entry to the photo's location. If it doesn't, tap the done icon (checkmark) to exit Edit mode
  4. Tap the photo to view full screen.
  5. Tap the share icon at the top right (see first screen shot).
  6. Choose Apply Photo Location to Entry (see second screen shot).
