It’s possible to use your photos’ metadata to set your entries’ date and location. This is particularly handy when you want to just snap photos on vacation, then write about the moment later.

Setting Date/Time

To change an entry’s date and time to match the date and time a photo was taken, follow these steps:

  1. Create an entry.
  2. Add a photo.
  3. Tap the time icon in the edit bar.
  4. Tap “Set to Photo Date/Time.”
  5. The date and time will be changed to match the photo. In addition to this change, the weather will be automatically updated to match the weather on the date and time of the photo.

Setting Location

To change an entry’s date and time to match the date and time a photo was taken, follow these steps:

  1. Create an entry.
  2. Add a photo.
  3. Day One should ask if you want to set the location of the entry to the photo’s location. If it doesn’t, tap the location icon in the edit bar.
  4. Tap “Use Photo Location.”
  5. You should see the following confirmation message: “Location updated using Photo’s location.”
