On June 28th, Day One introduced Premium, a subscription service. Features include encrypted sync, more than ten photos per entry, more than ten journals, and more. Learn more: http://dayoneapp.com/premium/faq. Please make sure the app is the current version in the App Store > Updates.

For troubleshooting purposes, there are three groups of users. Please find the group that applies to you and follow the issue-resolution steps.

1. Day One Classic (version 1.x) Users:

Day One Classic users will have access to either Day One Basic or Day One Premium after installing Day One 2 from the App Store or Mac App Store.

Day One Basic offers one journal, one photo per entry, and various exporting options. Sync is not included in Basic

Day One Premium includes Day One Sync, unlimited journals, 30 photos per entry, access to all Day One apps, and much more. Classic users can subscribe to Premium for $34.99 (USD) yearly or $3.99 monthly. See our Premium FAQ for more details.

2. Day One 2 Users (If purchased before June 28th, 2017):

Day One Plus is available to customers who purchased Day One 2 before June 28th, 2017.

Plus includes ten photos per entry, ten journals, Day One Cloud services (sync, IFTTT, and end-to-end encryption), and so forth.

I have Plus for iOS but not for Mac. Why?

Plus is a designation for paying for Day One 2.0 app. If you didn’t buy the Mac app prior to June 28th, you won’t have access to Plus features on your Mac. Based on your purchase history, it's possible you could see this status on an iOS device but not your Mac (or vice versa).

Enabling Day One Plus

To access Plus, sign into the App Store with the Apple ID that you used when purchasing Day One 2.

If Plus doesn’t appear automatically in Day One 2 after signing in within the correct Apple ID, you can restore the purchase in the app.

iOS: Day One > Settings > Advanced > Restore Purchases

Mac: Day One > Preferences > Click “Subscribe for $3.99” > Click “Restore Purchases”

Day One Plus and Apple Family Sharing

If Day One 2 was downloaded using Apple Family Sharing, you may need to sign in to the App Store on your device using the Apple ID of the original purchaser of Day One 2 instead of your own Apple ID.

Signing in with the correct Apple ID:

iOS: Settings app > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID

Mac: App Store > Store > Sign In

If Plus doesn’t appear automatically in Day One after signing in within the correct Apple ID, you can restore the purchase in the app:

iOS: Day One > Settings > Advanced > Restore Purchases

Mac: Day One > Preferences > Click “Subscribe for $3.99” > Click “Restore Purchases”

If Plus does not appear after restoring purchases, verify that you have the same number of photos and entries in the app and Dayone.me, then reinstall Day One from the App Store using the original purchaser's account.

For more Plus troubleshooting steps, see: I am supposed to be Plus, why did I lose my features?

3. Day One Premium Subscriber

If you purchased Day One Premium, but the subscription is not showing on all your devices:

  1. Update to Day One 2.3.3 from the iOS and Mac App Stores.
  2. Verify that the same Day One account is being used across all devices.

Apple does not support sharing subscriptions and other in-app purchases with Family Sharing at this time. This includes Day One Premium.
